My name is Jonathan Reid. I grew up in a small Newfoundland community of 240 people called Miles Cove. At an early age, I remember drawing whenever I could get the chance, most often in school, during class. As I grew older and school work became more of a priority as well as interest in other things, drawing took the back seat for quite some time.
After finishing college, getting married and meeting my artist of a mother-in-law, I mentioned to her I could draw but had nothing to show her I really could. Fittingly, she provided me with my first proper piece of artist's paper, first set of soft and hard sketching pencils and a picture to draw. Once I finished the drawing, she was surprised and so was I. This print, titled, "Abandoned" is of a traditional 1890s Newfoundland homestead, once located in Laurenceton, Newfoundland and is viewable and available for purchase along with others in my Gallery above.
Since then, I've began drawing more often, trying to build a larger collection. Everything I know is self-taught and a natural talent, I've never taken an art lesson. Since returning home to Newfoundland, without doubt, my art will continue to grow as I'll be inspired by the beauty of Newfoundland everyday, this is truely one of the most picturesque provinces in Canada.
